This landscape was originally designed for a long-time client who loved entertaining and wanted a mature “West Coast Traditional” landscape. Big trees and lots of them were at the top of the list.
One of the most challenging areas of this project was the covered “courtyard” patio overlooking the pool and city vista. The patio is surrounded by windows on 3 sides, is a centerpiece to the house, and on the north side which resulted in a very shady space! Creating a shade garden and augmenting with shady annual plantings has resulted in a beautiful and colorful space, very central to the home.
The Walters bought the home in 2014. Colour has been at the top of the list and this garden is a delight! It was a hit when it was featured in the Kelowna Garden tour.
