Landscape Foreman:

Wage- $21-$25/hr
Required Qualifications:

  • Has landscaped a minimum of five years and fully understands the landscape process. They are educated and have knowledge in horticulture, landscape design and installation,  irrigation design and installation,
  • Are able to take a project from start to completion without supervision, in a timely and efficient manner with attention to quality and detail.
  • Have or be willing to attain first aid certification
  • Have or are willing to attain Certified Irrigation Technician status.
  • Able to read landscape and irrigation drawings and understand the work orders that accompany them.  Ability to complete required paperwork neatly and in a timely fashion.
  • Have a valid drivers licence, clean abstract and are bondable.   
  • Ability to supervise, teach and motivate their crew.     
  • Have over 350hrs of skid steer operation and have experience in excavator operation, with a minimum 100hrs.
  • People skills and problem solving skills!!  Abiltiy interact with customers, making sure that they understand what our customers needs are and are able to solve any problems that may arise.

        
Jr. Foreman:              

Wage- $19-$21/hr

Required Qualifications:

  • Has landscaped a minimum of three years and fully understands the landscape process. They can confidently perform all the responsibilities listed in previous positions,
  • Have or be willing to attain first aid certification
  • With some assistance they can read landscape drawings and is knowledgeable  with construction specifications required to properly implement the landscape design. They have some knowledge in plant identification, landscape and irrigation design.
  • Have a valid drivers license, clean abstract and are bondable.   
  • They are able to organize and plan small jobs, supervise a small crew, pay close attention to detail and ensure that safety procedures are always followed.      
  • They have over 250 hrs Bobcat /skid steer experience and can operate the machine responsibly, safely and with confidence.
  • People skills and problem solving skills!!  Abiltiy interact with customers, making sure that they understand what our customers needs are and are able to solve any problems that may arise.

                                              

Goals:

Strive to become a better foreman by:

  1. finding more ways to become efficient and maintain a high standard of  workmanship.
  2. Continue to learn about landscape design, irrigation design and plant  identification.
  3. Continue to learn new ways to help motivate and educate the employees you supervise.                                

 

Supervisor/Lead hand:                     

Wage- $17-$19/hr

Required Qualifications:

  • Has landscaped two or more years and understands the landscape installation process. Knows how to do all the responsibilities in the previous three positions and can perform them efficiently and with confidence
  • They have some knowledge in plant identification, irrigation, drainage, soil characteristics
  • Build brick patios/walkways and retaining walls with little supervision. Know some landscape construction specifications for general landscaping,   irrigation, brick pavers, retaining walls.
  • Have a valid drivers license.
  • able to supervise other employees and help them perform and understand what they are doing.       
  • They have over 150 hrs Bobcat /skid steer experience and can operate the machine responsibly, safely and with  confidence.

 

Expect to Learn:
  1. As much as possible about landscape design, irrigation design, plant I.D. and ponds and waterfalls.  Be confident with all the installation processes within the landscape designs.
  2. Supervising techniques, Job planning, organizing, time management and estimating of materials req’d
  3. Machine and equipment maintenance
  4. Customer relations and problem solving skills

 

Labourer  Level II:   

Wage- $15-$17/hr.

Is a person who has landscaped for more than one year and has some understanding of the landscape installation process. Knows how to do all the responsibilities listed in the previous two positions and performs them very well. They also have some knowledge in retaining wall construction and brick pavers installation. They must be able to perform the following responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  1. Carry on the same responsibilities as the General labourer and Labourer level I.
  2. Minor supervising- helping others below you to perform their duties well, ensuring safety
  3. Installation of multiple irrigation zones.
  4. Be able to establish a finished grade up to Synergy standards for lawn and garden beds, ensuring proper depth.
  5. Establish finish grades up to Synergy standards for organic mulch and rock mulch,  ensuring proper depth and that plants are not being buried.
  6. Able to help establish grades for patios and walls etc.
  7. Install brick pavers, retaining walls and flagstone with some supervisory assistance.
  8. Works in a safe manner and is responsible with the use of power tools and equipment  and proper storage of them.

 

Expect to Learn:

  1. How to build irrigation manifolds, install timers, run wire, and connect to the water source-P.O.C. (Point Of Connection).
  2. Read landscape and irrigation drawings.
  3. Recognize and estimate the need for more or less materials.
  4. Plant names and how they grow.
  5. Start taking some courses and read some books about landscaping. We can help you in this area. If your interested, just ask.

 

Goals:
To be confident in establishing grades, installing brick and flagstone patios and building retaining walls. Know how to install a multiple zone  irrigation system. Gain more knowledge about landscaping (plant identification).

 

Labourer  Level I:    

Wage- $14-$15/hr.

Is a person who usually has one season or less of landscaping experience. They know how to perform the responsibilities and have achieved the goals of the previous listed position of a General Labourer.

They must be physically and mentally capable to perform the following;

Responsibilities:                           

  1. Carrying on the same responsibilities as the General labourer plus;
  2. Knowing and able to perform the proper planting procedure, (digging, planting,   fertilizing and watering).
  3. Rough grading- shape garden beds and lawn areas, ensuring proper depth of soil for  each. Ensure proper depth for areas that require organic mulch or rock mulch. At  the same time making sure that the plants do not get buried.
  4. Proper installation of landscape fabric.
  5. Proper installation of edging materials (brick/plastic)
  6. Assisting in the installation of irrigation zones using proper gluing techniques and  using the appropriate parts.
  7. Proper installation of turf grass.
  8. Proper installation of drainage pipe and pits.
  9. Safe and responsible use power tools and equipment and the storage of such items.  
  10. Assist in the installation process of retaining walls, brick paving stone patios and Flagstone patios/walkways.

 

Expect to Learn     

  1. Some plant names.
  2. More about irrigation (terminology, kinds of fittings).

Goals:                    

  1. Must be able to full fill all the above responsibilities to Synergy standards.
  2. Show initiative and obtain knowledge in brick pavers installation, retaining wall, flagstone and irrigation installation.

 

General Labourer:    

Wage - $12-$13/hr

Is a person who has very little experience or none at all in landscaping. They must  be physically capable to and work in a safe and responsible way.

Responsibilities:  

  1. Dig and swing a pick in all types of soil for planting and irrigation etc.
  2. Use a wheel barrel and move material from point A to B.
  3. Take direction and assist other members of their crew in all aspects of landscaping
  4. Perform all duties up to Synergy Standards
  5. Site clean up and proper storage of all tools.

 

Goals:                    

  1. To properly know how to dig the appropriate hole for any size plants,
  2. Dig trenches 6” deep and wide enough for the number of pipes that will be going into that trench.
  3. To work efficiently and bring materials to others in a timely fashion in order to  maintain a rhythm in the installation process. Examples are, supplying brick or turf  to the person who is installing.
  4. Learn how to safely operate power tools (tampers, brick saws, etc.).
